Missouri Junior Angus News
By: Jerry & Barb Creason

As May is upon us we will be very busy preparing for the Missouri Preview Show June 9, 2002 and the National Junior show in Milwaukee, WI July 8 - 13, 2002. Entry deadlines for both shows are June 1, 2002. Most deadline dates for contests held during the National Junior show occur from June 1 - 25, 2002. The 2002 LEAD Conference to be held in Sacramento, California August 1 - 4, 2002 registrations are due by June 15, 2002. I would recommend attending. A one time fee of $175 for juniors will include lodging and meals.

At the Preview Juniors will have a meeting to finalize plans for the trip to the National Junior show in Milwaukee, WI. Juniors should bring ideas and pictures to be included in the scrapbook. The booth will be on display at the Preview show in Sedalia so we can make final additions. Tattoos will be checked and registration papers will be stamped to make it simpler for check in at the National Junior Show.

Pam and Gary Naylor will head up the organization of the contest in Milwaukee and Juniors desiring to b on a team should contact them at 190 Bison Rd., Buffalo, MO 65622. Telephone 417-345-8330. 2002 contest include Certified Angus Beef Cook Off, Photography, Creative Writing, Poster, Public Speaking, Team Sales, Project of the Year, Scrapbook, State Herdmanship, a Mentoring Program, Quiz Bowl, and Sweepstakes. For in-depth information, rules and explanation of the contest, go to the National Junior Angus website at  www.njaa.info  or contact the Junior Activities department of the American Angus Association at 816-383-5100. Information, pictures and articles to be included in the scrapbook may be sent to Meghan Creason, 7322 SE Apache Rd., Cowgill, MO 64637.

Applications for awards in the National Junior Recognition Program can be obtained through the American Angus Association and approved throughout the year. Keep those record books current and if you have enough points for a bronze, silver or gold award send them to James Fisher.
