6th High selling bull at $27,000 for 2/3 interest in the record breaking 2015 Mohnen Angus Ranch sale. He was a member of the 2015 National Western Grand Champion Carload of bulls. Sired by Mohnen South Dakota, who sold for $120,000 in 2012, and dam by SAV Final Answer. South Dakota sired 6 of the 10 bulls in that carload. Where ever we saw calves by him, they were always the standout calves. Custer's dam had 3 flush brothers sell for $8333 average in the 2012 Mohnen sale.
I first saw Custer on the South Dakota Angus Tour in Sept. of 2014; I liked his overall conformation plus his fantastic birth of 80 lbs. to weaning wt. growth of 900 lbs. I decided to keep an eye on him at that point. Saw him again in Jan of 2015 at the farm a couple of weeks before their sale, and bought him in Feb. Those 6 sons of South Dakota that were in the carload averaged $32800, and the 29 sons of him in the sale averaged $17,000. The epd profile of Custer almost matches his sire, except Custer is a lower birth wt. bull. He is deep and thick, straight topped, plus has a great disposition. He will sire cattle that work in purebred and commercial herds and the feedlot.
